Nanyang Institute of Management Comes Together for a Spectacular Deepavali Celebration

南洋管理學院師生歡聚一堂，共度盛大的屠妖節慶典

Today, we illuminated our campus』 Level 5 Common Area with a vibrant array of colours and bright, glimmering lights, as our students came together to celebrate the festival of Deepavali. The campus was buzzing with laughter and excitement as participants engaged in a myriad of activities like decorating rangolis and making 『Pani Puri』. We are thankful to have created a festive atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of the occasion, watching our students be immersed in appreciating true Indian culture.

今天，我們南洋管理學院全校師生歡聚一堂，共同慶祝傳統節日——屠妖節。

屠妖節，這個印度教中最盛大的節日之一，也是新加坡一年中熱鬧的節日之一，無論是印度還是新加坡，屠妖節都是一場盛大的慶典，充滿了色彩、美食、購物和文化活動。

南洋管理學院的師生們早早的就用鮮艷的彩條裝飾校園的公共區域，明亮的燈光將一切都照的亮堂堂的，也激起了更多學生們的熱情，學生們一起用彩粉繪製出漂亮的圖案，還共同製作傳統街頭小吃酥脆球，校園裡充滿了歡聲笑語。看著學生們沉浸並真正在感受傳統節日，老師們都感到欣慰，也感激節日為大家帶來愉快的異域文化體驗，能讓來自不同國家的同學們聚集於此，感受節日來帶的歡快氛圍和文化傳播，也能在緊張的學業中得到一絲絲放鬆。

Adding a touch of tradition and artistry, students showcased their creativity through the creation of intricate rangoli patterns on the ground. The vibrant and elaborate designs, crafted with meticulous precision, not only added to the visual appeal of the event but also celebrated the rich cultural heritage of India. Participants also lit candles around the rangoli, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness.

屠妖節里有一項習俗是用麵粉、大米或花瓣製成的圖案來裝飾地面，成品色彩艷麗、生動有致。這些美麗的圖案可能是幾何圖案、花朵圖案，或更精細的動物或大自然圖案。這些團被稱為rangoli ，這代表期望能夠引領神靈來到家中，在未來一年庇佑全家。

學生們通過使用彩粉、花瓣等，在地面上創作出複雜又漂亮的圖案，盡情展示他們的創造力和藝術審美。有的同學還在自己創作的圖案周圍點上蠟燭，不僅美觀，還象徵著光明戰勝黑暗。

What’s a festive season without food? Pani Puri, a beloved Indian street food, took center stage as participants tried their hands at making this delectable treat. The fragrant aromas wafted through the air, enticing participants to indulge in the flavors of Deepavali. The communal spirit of sharing and enjoying food together added to the festive mood.

印度傳統街頭美食酥脆球（Pani Puri）在節日中也占有重要的一席之地。同學們都在積極地嘗試製作這種美味的食物，校園中連空氣都瀰漫著香味，我們相信這一定也是屠妖節的味道。在南洋管理學院的慶典里，共同分享東西和共同享受食物是所有節日的重要一環，熱騰騰的食物總是容易拉近彼此的距離。

One of the most memorable event highlights was when a group of students formed a dance circle and garnered other multiracial students and our staff to join in the fun as well! They danced to the lively rhythmic beats, while dressed in vibrant traditional costumes. The dance circle not only showcased the diversity within the NIM community but also provided a platform for cultural exchange and appreciation.

慶典過半，最令人難忘的畫面是一群學生組成一個舞蹈圈，不斷吸引著更多種族學生和教職員工們也加入其中！他們穿著充滿活力的傳統服裝，隨著節奏搖擺，帶領大家翩翩起舞。舞蹈活動里不僅展示了NIM的多樣性，也提供了一個文化交流和互相欣賞的平台，大家熱烈的氣氛讓整個校園充滿了歡聲笑語。

Mr. Craig Albrightson, Vice President (Academic) of NIM and organiser of the event, expressed his delight at the success of the celebration. 「Deepavali is a time of joy, light, and togetherness. Our goal was to create an immersive experience that not only celebrated the traditions of Deepavali but also fostered a sense of unity and inclusivity within the NIM community. I』m thrilled to see the enthusiasm and participation of everyone involved. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team for their hard work; this celebration wouldn』t have been possible without each and every one of you. Here’s to spreading joy and creating unforgettable memories together!」

南洋管理學院學術副校長兼活動組織者Craig Albrightson先生對這次屠妖節慶典的成功表示由衷的高興。他說：「屠妖節是一個充滿歡樂、光明和團結的時刻。我們的目標是為學生創造一種身臨其境的體驗，不僅慶祝傳統節日，也是為了在NIM南洋管理學院培養多元化、團結性和包容性。我很高興看到所有參與者的熱情。也衷心感謝組織團隊的辛勤工作；這次慶祝活動大家都發揮了重要的作用。讓我們一起傳播快樂，在學校里創造難忘的回憶吧！」

As the festivities concluded, the school stood illuminated with the spirit of Deepavali, leaving a lasting impression of unity, diversity, and celebration. The event not only served as a cultural exchange but also reinforced the institute’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.
